Accommodation & Services

“Attractively nestled between a large, safe bay with 2 large islands and extensive sand dunes, the town is a worldwide recognised venue for Windsurfing and Rock Lobster fishing.

Originally explored by the first settlers to Western Australia, activity in the area did not begin until 1928 when a man named John Hopkins made a living out of the good fishing in the area. By 1947 there were several cray-fishing boats operating out of the bay which attracted various settlers to the region.

Officially founded in 1950 as ‘Wangaree’, the town’s name was changed in 1954 to ‘Lancelin’. The town steadily grew around the bounty of fish off the coast and being relatively close to Perth it was close to a major market

The bay of Lancelin is by far it’s best feature. The calm waters of this bay are beautiful and water activities dominate the town’s leisure activities.”  – WA Holiday Guide.

Visage Productions produced a fantastic documentary on Lancelin which was aired on Channel 9 and WIN.  It provides an overview of the attractions that make Lancelin such a popular holiday destination.

Should you wish to stay the night following your fishing adventure, there is a variety of accommodation providers and places to eat within Lancelin.  Some of our local sponsors and their services are featured below.
